Please describe your experience with NY-BEST:
Lou Schick has been active in the energy storage industry in New York for over a decade. He has a close working relationship with many NYSERDA grant recipients and NY BEST member companies. He has also been in close discussions with colleagues within the energy storage field as the NY-BEST consortium has developed over the past year.
Please describe your experience with the Battery & Energy Storage Industry:
Before co-founding NewWorld, he was a Managing Director at Ritchie Capital focusing on private equity investments in cleantech companies. Prior to Ritchie, Lou managed a military product line for MTI micro. Previously, he was a senior scientist at GE Global Research where he created and managed the Disruptive Energy Technology Unit. This unit evaluated the energy landscape and identified key opportunities and threats for GE, including facilitating GE’s entry into solar, wind and gas-fired reciprocating engines. He also led GE’s Solid Oxide Fuel Cell program and worked in gas turbine services. Lou served as Six Sigma Master Blackbelt for GE Energy Systems.
Please describe why you would be a good candidate for the board:
Lou has broad experience in evaluating and commercializing energy technologies, including responsibility for acquisition diligence, project management, marketing and customer requirements. He possesses significant technical competencies combined with business and financial acumen. Lou received a BS in Physics cum laude from Union College and an MS in physics from Cornell University and holds technology patents in gas turbine parts, vehicle telematics, and other fields. He is dedicated to growing the energy storage sector in New York State.
