About Us

The New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST™) is an industry-led coalition working to build and promote a vibrant, world-class, advanced battery and energy storage sector in New York State. NY-BEST was established in 2009 by New York State Governor Paterson, and seeks to position New York as the global leader in energy storage technology. NY-BEST capitalizes on the State’s existing technical and industrial capabilities and helps bring together engineers, entrepreneurs, and scientists to advance New York’s clean energy and storage technology industries. New York State is investing more than $25 million to provide initial seed funding to the Consortium, using funding from New York’s participation in the federal Clean Air Interstate Rule. In addition to establishing a robust consortium, this seed funding is anticipated to provide funding for market-driven research and enhancement of battery-testing capabilities in New York State.
